Man caught red-handed, barefooted

If he thought he could cover his tracks by not wearing shoes, Keyon Tolbert was wrong.
The Oakland County Sheriff Office’s (OCSO) K-9 unit still sniffed out the location of the shoeless Lake Orion man who was subsequently found to have warrants out for his arrest, as well as a bag of marijuana.
Tolbert, 20, was arrested Thursday morning (Sept. 18) at Waldon Lake Apartments, located on Elmhurst Circle near Mapleview Drive, and charged with possession and intent to deliver drugs, according to Lt. Bruce Naile of the OCSO, Orion substation. Tolbert had two felony warrants, one for probation violation, and another for criminal sexual misconduct.
A 911 call was placed at 10:42 a.m. from a resident of the apartments concerning a suspect allegedly breaking into vehicles parked in the complex lot. Soon after deputies responded, which included the K-9 unit as well as a helicopter, the resident spotted the shoeless Tolbert, who was now in his own car.
‘They went to talk to him and he bolted,? Naile said.
But he was no match for the dogs, who tracked him inside to an apartment. Naile said Tolbert resides in the complex with his mother, but this was not where they found him.
‘The helicopter was also in the area and made aerial observation,? Naile said. ‘We located him in an apartment and made the arrest.?
Police then found the bag of marijuana in the car.
