An Independence Township man was found guilty on two charges of criminal sexual conduct in 6th Circuit Court in Oakland County on May 1.
Mark Owen Erickson, 44, will be sentenced before Judge Edward Sosnick on May 17 at 1 a.m. on the first and second degree criminal sexual conduct charges committed against a 9-year-old Independence Township girl.
According to records from the Oakland County Clerks Office, Erickson was found not guilty on four other first degree CSC charges and a charge of disseminating obscene matter to children.
The charges stem from an investigation that started Dec. 15, 2005 when the victim disclosed to her friend that Erickson sexually assaulted her the night before while her mother was away. Erickson, the mother’s fianc?, was living on Parview at the time of the arrest.
As reported in the Jan. 4 edition of The Clarkston News, the charges came from incidents dating back to Jan. 1, 2005 with the latest occurring Dec. 14.
Erickson was arraigned on Dec. 23, 2005 in 52-2 District Court after Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies arrested him on Dec. 22. The case was bound over to Circuit Court on Jan. 25.
