Despite two recent doubleheader splits, the Goodrich softball team remains among the top contenders for the Genesee Area Conference Red Division title.
In their most recent action, the visiting Martians split a twin bill from LakeVille, winning the opener 4-1 before losing the nightcap 2-1.
In the opener, Jessica Morgan pitched a five-hitter with nine strikeouts for the Martians, while Tara Garman hit a home run. Morgan also accounted for the Martians? lone run in the second game of the doubleheader with a home run.
The Martians split an April 29 Genesee Area Conference doubleheader against visiting Bentley, dropping the opener 5-3 before winning the nightcap 11-5.
Goodrich’s record stands at 13-3 overall and 10-2 in the GAC Red Division.
In the second game, Alisha Bergeron cranked out three hits, and Ellen Nothhelfer pitched the final 4-2/3 innings in relief to capture the win for the Martians.
