GOODRICH- The Martian wrestlers added more wins to their record over the last few weeks.
The weekend of Jan. 11, the boys traveled to participate in the Chesaning tournament where they took second place, winning four of five of their matches.
The Martians’ only loss came from a strong Birch Run team. The Martians defeated Chesaning, Carrollton, Pinconning, and Central Montcalm.
Nic Higdon wrestled well for the Martians, and was the only wrestler to win all five of his matches. Zach Pyles took four of five, and Garrett Higdon and Jason Fischer did the same.
Moving into last week, the Martians took on New Lothrop and LakeVille in a league dual meet, and came away with one win. They defeated LakeVille 40-24 and fell to New Lothrop 62-9.
Garrett Higdon, Pyles and Jeff O’Mara each won both their matches.
The Martians are now 2-2 in league dual meets and 13-4 overall.
Next up for Goodrich is a meet at Bentley on Wednesday, Jan. 29. The match is set to begin at 6 p.m.
Jan. 18 saw the Martians wrestle in the Springport tournament, and they faced Mt. Morris on Jan. 22. Results from either meet were not available as of The Citizen’s press time.
On Feb. 1 Goodrich will host a tournament beginning at 9 a.m.
After that, they have one more league meet on the road before heading into the post-season district playoffs.
