‘marvelous machines?

Carpenter students spent their intersession on Oct. 24-28 thinking of ideas, drawing and then constructing their own designs.
The students received help from Lake Orion architects Steven Auger and Associates, Bordine’s Nursery, DTE Energy, Michigan Home Builder’s Association and engineers Warner, Cantrell and Padmos.
The speakers explained what goes into building a home from beginning to end. Homes were not the only things the students learned about; construction machines were also taught.
The kids had fun designing their own construction vehicle out of a variety of recycled materials. They traveled to Ford Rouge Factory and saw actual machines and assembly lines build automobiles.
The students topped off the week by putting their own carpentry skills to good use, as they teamed with Home Depot of Lake Orion, and each built either a bat house, bird house, trivet or footstool.
