Oxford/Orion FISH recently got a helping hand from a group of local Freemasons.
Last week, Brotherhood Lodge No. 561 on Oakwood Rd. in Brandon Township donated $600 to the food pantry in Thomas.
Pantry Coordinator Val Cass said FISH was surprised and appreciative of the Masons? gift.
A donation like this will enable FISH ‘to buy another week’s worth of food,? she said.
‘Staples? like soups, tuna fish and spaghetti sauce will be purchased.
Cass indicated the pantry’s food level is currently ‘very low.?
‘We’re having a big food drive at Thanksgiving, but right now we are in such bare shape,? she said.
The money was raised during a pig roast/flea market held at the lodge last month.
In a few months, FISH will receive another $600 donation from the Masons when the Grand Lodge of Michigan makes a matching contribution. ? Editor C.J. Carnacchio
