With another cold winter around the corner, Michigan Catholic Credit Union was on hand to help residents in Lake Orion/Oxford area stay warm.
On Sunday, Nov. 12, MCCU was a proud sponsor of the first St. Joseph parish’s Big Chill Project.
MCCU Lake Orion Branch Manager, Barb Kozlowski, and Marketing Specialist, Tracy Golden, were on hand to aid volunteers from St. Joseph parish.
The church gave volunteers a list of their parish senior citizens? addresses whose homes needed winter maintenance, and the six groups went to work.
The volunteers caulked, painted, applied weather stripping, fixed old windows and performed any other work that needed to be done.
By the end of the day they had assisted 12 senior citizens, including a 94-year-old woman whose front yard needed additional landscaping work.
The first Big Chill was a huge success, and MCCU will continue to assist the parish in this yearly event.
