The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is considering the purchase of 63 acres of land in Orion Township.
The property is adjacent to the Bald Mountain State Recreation Area, surrounded on three sides by state land.
The property is also one mile southeast of Lake Orion, in a developing area between Kern and Orion roads.
The land has over 1,200 feet of frontage on Kern, and features an elevation increase of 90 feet from Paint Creek to a high knoll on the western half of the property.
If purchased, the seller will retain an easement to serve a single family residence accessible from Kern Road.
The purchase was eligible for approval by the state on Jan 10.
