Meet Ron

A new face joined the James Lumber Co. family last week as Ron Veenhuis took over as store manager of the Oxford location.
The Swartz Creek resident started in the lumber business in 1976 with Wolohan Lumber while attending the University of Michigan-Flint. He worked at and managed Wolohan stores in both Michigan and Indiana for the next 14 years.
Veenhuis then spent nine years managing Linden Lumber in Linden, Michigan followed by six years running the wholesale and commercial division of the Davison-based Crown Windows.
Veenhuis said he’s glad to return to his first love, the lumber business, and looks forward to helping James Lumber’s Oxford location continue to prosper in the area’s growing market.
When he’s not working, Veenhuis actively volunteers with the Swartz Creek Athletic Boosters and coaches Swartz Creek’s spring hockey team.
His son Brock, a freshman at Swartz Creek High School, plays golf, hockey and baseball.
Veenhuis and his wife of 25 years, Sharon, also have two daughters ? Jamie, who’s an engineer with General Motors, and Katie, a junior at Michigan State University.
Stop by James Lumber’s Oxford store at 43 E. Burdick St. and meet Ron Veenhuis. He’ll be glad to help you.
