Leah Rachel LaFleur was born Dec. 21, 2003. She weighed in at 5 lbs., 14 oz. and measured 19 inches long.

Ethan Wendell Buhs was born Dec. 26. 2003 at St. Joseph Mercy in Pontiac. He weighed 8 lbs. 9-1/2 oz. and measured 20-1/4 inches long.

Juanita A. Byers
Juanita A. Byers of Ortonville, 83, died Thursday, March 4.
She was the wife of the late Clayton; beloved mother of Thomas (Rita) and James (Monica), both of Ortonville; foster mother of Gail Charnley; dear grandmother of Thomas, Curtis, and Cody Byers; sister of Luella Prange and Joyce (Derold) Hadd; sister-in-law of Rosie Lambertson; also survived by many nieces and nephews; she was preceded in death by sisters, Vivian Douglas and Florence Lambertson, and brothers, Leslie and Harold Lambertson.
Mrs. Byers, a long-time member of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church, retired from the Brandon School District after 16 years of service as a bus driver.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 8 from the Sherman Wilk Funeral Home, 135 South St., Ortonville. Interment in Ortonville Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to the Brandon Senior Citizens Center.

Tyson Delandsheer of Ortonville graduated May 16 from Lawrence Technological University, receiving a bachelor of science degree in biomedical engineering.
Amanda M. Steenson of Ortonville has been named to the president’s list at Saginaw Valley State University for the winter 2010 semester.
To achieve this prestigious honor, undergraduate students must maintain a perfect 4.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale while enrolled in at least 12 credit hours of classes.
Katie A. Bradley, Lindsay R. Childress, Sara N. Eisinger, Amanda G. Engler, Ellen K. Nothhelfer, Amelia M. Pingatore, and Miranda J. Pyles, all of Goodrich, as well as Sara A. Jones and Christopher G. Thomakos of Ortonville, have been named to the dean’s list at Saginaw Valley State University for the winter 2010 semester.
To earn a place on the dean’s list, an undergraduate student must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours of accepted classes and maintain a grade point average between 3.4 and 3.99 on a 4.0 scale.

Coast Guard Seaman Rebecca A. Walbecq recently graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center in Cape May, N. J.
During the eight-week training program, Walbecq completed a vigorous training curriculum consisting of academics and practical instruction on water safety and survival, military customs and courtesies, seamanship skills, first aid, fire fighting and marksmanship. A major emphasis is also placed on physical fitness, health and wellness. Walbecq also received instruction on the Coast Guard’s core values ? honor, respect and devotion to duty ? and how to apply them in their military performance and personal conduct.
Walbecq will join 36,000 other men and women who comprise Coast Guard’s force. Men and women train together from the first day in the Coast Guard just as they do aboard ships and shore units throughout the world. To reinforce the team concept, Walbecq and other recruits were trained in preventing sexual harassment, drug and alcohol awareness, civil rights training, and the basics of the work-life balance, as well as total quality management.
Walbecq, a 2006 Brandon High School graduate, is the daughter of Pamela and David Scherer of Ortonville.

Slogor-Stack
Ed and Libby Slogor of Burton are proud to announce the marriage of their daughter, Louisa Lynn Slogor, to Curtis Michael Stack, son of Robert and Mickey Stack of Goodrich.
Louisa and Curtis were married on July 17 at Grand Blanc United Methodist Church. The reception was held at the American Legion Hall in Davison. They honeymooned in northern Michigan, including Mackinac Island.
Louisa is a 2004 Goodrich High School graduate and a 2009 graduate of Western Michigan University, with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and secondary education. She is currently employed with Sylvan Learning Center and will teach at Western Michigan University in the fall.
Curtis is also a 2004 Goodrich High School graduate and received his bachelor’s degree May 1 in engineering graphics and design from Western Michigan University.
The couple will reside in Kalamazoo.

Spc. Christopher Hubbard
Spc. Christopher Hubbard of Ortonville, a signal support systems specialist with the 593rd Sustainment Brigade, was acknowledged as the distinguished honor graduate of class number 010-10 during a Warrior Leader Course graduation ceremony July 28 at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash.
Twelve distinguished honor graduates are named each year at the base’s month-long leadership academy out of 28,000 active duty servicemembers.
Hubbard attributed his success partially to his experience as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.

Samantha Marquis of Ortonville was named to the dean’s list at the University of Michigan-Flint for both the fall and winter semesters.
To be named to the dean’s list at U-M Flint, a student must be full-time and earn a 3.5 grade point average. In her second semester as a freshman, Marquis had a 4.0 GPA. The 2009 Brandon High School graduate is in the pre-education program, pursuing a degree in early childhood education, with plans to teach kindergarten after graduation.
Marquis volunteers each week at Bridgewood Church as a preschool-first grade teacher and is the daughter of Jim and Sue Marquis of Ortonville.
Jason Sotzen of Ortonville has been named to the dean’s list at Oakland University for the 2009-2010 school year.
To be named to the OU dean’s list, a student must attain a 3.6 grade point average for two consecutive semesters. Sotzen achieved dean’s list status while taking 16 credit hours in the fall semester and 23 in the winter semester.
The 2006 Brandon High School graduate has just finished his fourth year in the OU Honors College pre-med program and is pursuing a double major in Spanish and biochemistry. He was inducted on March 21 into the National Honor Society and will apply to medical school this fall with plans to become a surgeon.
Sotzen is the son of Brian and Joanne Sotzen of Ortonville.
Joanne Sotzen of Ortonville graduated magna cum laude from Saginaw Valley State University May 8 receiving a bachelor’s degree in special education with a cognitive impairment endorsement.
She is pursuing a position in the Brandon School District as a special education teacher. Her proud family includes husband Brian, daughter Jennifer (Andrew) Wrobel, and son Jason.

Army Pvt. Michael W. Noll has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During nine weeks of training, Noll studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.
Noll, a 2009 Brandon High School graduate, is the brother of Eric Noll of Ortonville.

Army PFC Adam J. Montgomery, a 2009 Brandon High School graduate, and Brittany N. Gorris, a 2008 Brandon High School graduate, were married June 27. They reside at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, Texas with their son, Brayden Robert Montgomery, who was born Nov. 1, 2009.
Adam graduated from basic training at Ft. Jackson, S.C. and AIT training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo.
Adam is the son of Patrick and Cindy Montgomery of Groveland Township. Brittany is the daughter of Robin Gorris of Ortonville.

Heather Marshall of Oxford, and Aaron Crawford of Clermont, Fla., were married June 26 in Castries, St. Lucia, West Indies.
The bride is the daughter of Danny and Debbie Marshall of Oxford. The groom is the son of Mike and Joyce Crawford of Dover-Foxcroft, Maine.
Wedding attendants were Josie Castro, Jackie Metcalf, Kyle Crawford and Aaron Elswick.
A reception was held July 10 in Oscoda. The couple honeymooned in St. Lucia, Oscoda, and Sebec, Maine. They currently reside in Clermont, Fla.

Brittany Clinton-Barnett and Trevor Stayton are pleased to announce their engagement.
The bride-to-be is the daughter of Nigel and Cherie Clinton-Barnett of Goodrich. She is a 2004 Goodrich High School graduate and is currently employed as a stylist at Glitz NXT in Orion Township.
The groom-to-be is the son of Rick and Karin Stayton of Grand Blanc. He is a 2001 Goodrich High School graduate and is currently employed as manager of the graphic design engineering team with IAEC Corp., based out of Lake Orion and China.
The couple is planning a March Disney wedding. Max Cotton, a 2010 graduate of Brandon High School, and 3-year starter for the varsity Blackhawks baseball team, was selected to play in the 18th annual Mott Community College Bruin Club All-Star Classic June 21.
Max pitched the third and fourth innings of the game. He gave up one hit, and struck out the side in the fourth inning. He also had one hit in two plate appearances.
Max was named the game’s outstanding pitcher, and received a plaque for his performance.

Anne Miracle-Dalton has earned her master’s degree in counselor education from The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina. She was also awarded the Colonel Charles E. Hershey Award from the School of Education. This award is given annually at The Citadel to an outstanding teacher education major graduate.
Anne lives with her husband Jamie Dalton in Charleston, SC and both of them are 1997 Brandon High School graduates.
Anne is the daughter of Judy and Glenn Miracle of Ortonville.
Michelle (Zachara) Morales graduated in April from Marygrove College with a master’s degree in the art of teaching.
Michelle is a 1999 Brandon High School graduate and is currently employed at Oakwood Elementary School in the Brandon School District. She and her husband Dean are expecting their first child in September.

Ashley Mankosa graduated from Michigan State University on May 8 with a bachelor of science degree in animal science.
The 2006 Brandon High School graduate has been accepted in the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine and will graduate in 2014 as a doctor of veterinary medicine.

Air National Guard Airman First Class Derek M. Boston graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Boston earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is the son of Lynn Mitchell of Oscoda, Mich., and Joseph Boston of Ortonville. The airman is a 2009 graduate of Oscoda Area High School.

Kristiana Dixon graduated from California State University – Fresno in May. Dixon earned a masters degree in criminology with a concentration on victimology. Dixon attended the Brandon School District kindergarten through eighth grade. She graduated from Notre Dame Preparatory High School. She is the daughter of Bruce & Marla Dixon of Ortonville.
Lindsay Bauman graduated from Michigan State University in May with a degree in Communicative Sciences and Disorders. She will attend Wayne State University in the fall where she will pursue a doctorate in audiology. Bauman is a 2006 graduate of Brandon High School and is the daughter of Midge Stewart and Doug Bauman.
Laura Kwiatkowski, a 2006 graduate of Brandon High School, graduated Summa Cum Laude from Oakland University on May 3 with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. Kwiatkowski also received departmental honors in Biochemistry and received the Department of Athletics Endowed Scholarship for 2009-2010. She was also in the Summit League’s Scholar Athlete Spotlight last March.
Kwiatkowski will be attending the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, Az, in the fall to pursue a doctoral degree.

Jennifer M. Ikeler of Ortonville was named to the deans’s list at Lake Superior State University for Spring 2010 semester in the school of nursing. To make the dean’s list, students must be attending full time and achieve a 3.5 grade point average for the semester on a 4.0 scale.
Miracle Memorial Scholarship
The PFC Joseph A. Miracle Memorial Scholarship recipients for the 2010 school year are Brandon High School seniors, Lyndsey Tennant and Matthew Sweetman. Each student will receive a $1,000 scholarship;
Lyndsey plans to attend Northwood University to study Fashion Marketing and Management; Matthew plans to attend either Ferris State University or Western Michigan University to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering to secure a career in green, wind and solar technology. Lyndsey was on the BHS Pom-Pon team and helped coach middle school girls in the same. She has tried out and been accepted on the Northwood University cheerleading team for the fall. Matthew was the team captain of the BHS wrestling team and also participated in cross country, the two sports for all four years of his high school career.
The PFC Joseph A. Miracle Memorial Scholarship was created by generous donations from community members, after Joe made the ultimate sacrifice on July 5, 2007 in Kunar Province, Afghanistan. Joe attended Brandon Schools from kindergarten through grade 12, and loved to play on the football team and baseball team while at BHS. He graduated from BHS in 2003 and joined the US Army, 173rd Airborne in April 2006. He loved the Army and treated it as an extension of his high school football years; embracing it totally. His six older siblings, five nieces and nephews, and parents, Glenn and Judy Miracle, appreciate being able to honor Joe’s fighting spirit by assisting two BHS student-athletes to pursue their dreams.

Alan Cole was named to the dean’s list at Eastern Kentucky University with a 3.7 GPA.
Cole is a junior majoring in marketing and finance at EKU and is in the ROTC there. He is son of Tom and Kathy Cole of Ortonville.
Carly Goerke was named to the dean’s list at Michigan State University for the spring semester.
The 2008 Goodrich High School graduate is a sophomore at MSU majoring in childhood development and is also a member of the MSU Marching Band Color Guard. She is the daughter of Cindy and Carl Goerke of Hadley Township.
The Gleaner Life Insurance Society Scholarship Foundation has announced Andrew Grix as the recipient of a $1,000 Glen Arbor Award.
The 2010 Brandon High School graduate is one of 125 students selected to receive a 2010 scholarship award from the foundation. Grix will attend Ferris State University and major in pharmacy. He is the son of Anthony and Gayle Grix of Brandon Township.
Nick Larsen was awarded a National Army ROTC Scholarship from Major Leepak on June 2 during the Brandon Senior Honors Convocation.
Larsen, a 2010 Brandon High School graduate, will attend Michigan State University in the fall. He is the son of Mary and Eric Larsen of Brandon Township.
Mark Westphal graduated in May from the University of Detroit Mercy with a master’s degree in architecture.
He maintained a 3.5 grade point average at U of D and spent six months in Poland working and attending Warsaw University of Technology.
Gladys Agnes (Neumann) Clair
Gladys Agnes (Neumann) Clair of Ortonville will celebrate her 90th birthday from noon-4 p.m., June 18, at the Edna Burton Senior Center, 345 Ball St., Ortonville, and with her family and friends at 2 p.m., June 19 at Jim and Debbie Clair’s house in Ortonville.
Gladys was born on June 19, 1920 to Oswald and Alice Neumann. She was raised in Walled Lake, Michigan and was the oldest of five siblings, the others being Lillian, Marion, Tina and Walter. Gladys married Ken Clair on Feb. 12, 1943 and they were exactly one month shy of their 60th Anniversary when he died in 2003. They had eleven children, the late Donald, the late Nancy Gursky, Robert of Davisburg, the late William, Kathy (Brian) Arrowsmith of Clarkston, Jim (Debbie) of Ortonville, the late John, Mary (Ron) Luketich of Royal Oak, Patty of Ortonville, Michael of Waterford, and Janet of Ortonville. Gladys has 23 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Brian Frink of Ortonville has completed combat lifesaving training in Grayling as part of the Michigan Army National Guard.
Frink completed 40 hours of first line responder medical training in preparation for an upcoming tour of duty in Kuwait and Iraq. In addition, he successfully completed several practical exercises and a written examination to receive the Combat Lifesaver certificate.
Frink is a Private First Class with the 1st Battalion (HIMARS), 182nd Field Artillery Regiment based in Detroit, Bay City and Lansing, Michigan. First Battalion (HIMARS), 182nd Field Artillery is scheduled to deploy in support of Operation New Dawn this fall with the 197th Fires Brigade from New Hampshire.

Bethany Marie Connop has graduated with honors and distinction from the University of Michigan with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education. She remained on the dean’s list throughout her years at U of M.

Michael Genovese graduated May 7 from Wayne State University with a bachelor of science in business degree in global supply chain management. He is currently employed by Comau Pico, an automation systems provider in Southfield.
The 2005 Brandon High School graduate is the son of Frank and Catherine Genovese of Brandon Township.
Nicholas J. Genovese received his doctorate degree in biochemistry and molecular genetics on May 8 from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He will continue doing cancer research through a post doctoral program.
The1996 graduate of Brandon High School and 2000 graduate of Oakland University and is the son of Frank and Catherine Genovese of Brandon Township.
Ashley Hughes graduated from Michigan State University on May 8 with a bachelor’s degree in graphic design and advertising.

The 2008 Goodrich High School graduate is a sophomore at MSU majoring in childhood development and is also a member of the MSU Marching Band Color Guard. She is the daughter of Cindy and Carl Goerke of Hadley Township.
Jonathan S. Sheperd will graduate on May 23 as the valedictorian in a class of 161 from Notre Dame Preparatory and Marist Academy.
Sheperd has a 4.5 GPA and will attend the University of Notre Dame. The National Merit Finalist Scholarship Award winner plans on majoring in mathematics and physics. He was also named a Reilly Scholar at the University of Notre Dame and has been accepted to study in the prestigious Glynn Family Honors Program.
Sheperd is the son of Angie and Ken Sheperd of Brandon Township and attends St. Anne Catholic Church, Ortonville.
Achievement
Lauren Smyth and Samantha Livo grew more than a garden this year. They helped the local Girl Scout Association grow, as well.
Smyth, an 18-year-old Brandon High School senior, and Livo, a 17-year-old Holly High School senior, managed a garden that fed more than 700 people in the Ortonville and Holly communities. The girls recently earned the GSA Gold Award: the highest Girl Scout award available to 14- to 18-year-olds.
‘We have been the only girls in the history of Ortonville to receive this award,? Smyth said.
The girls? project began in April of last year and utilized Wojo’s Greenhouse, as well as the Ortonville Community Emergency Fund and OLSHA, a Holly senior center.
Smyth and Livo, along with their supporters, worked more than 200 hours on this project.
‘But it was worth it, in the end, because we had a significant positive impact on the local community,? Smyth said.

Jonelle Pariseau graduated from Michigan State University on May 8, receiving a bachelor of arts degree in communications, with dual specializations in both dance and public relations.
Pariseau completed her degree in three years, taking on 19-23 credits a semester while performing with MSU’s ImpulseDance on campus and at events around the state. She was also president and founding member of MSU’s chapter of Phi Sigma Theta co-ed honors fraternity.

To be considered for a Faculty Scholarship, the recipient must have a 3.6 high school grade point average, a minimum ACT score of 29, and attend a scholarship competition. The award is renewable for three consecutive additional years with a minimum GPA of 3.5 or better.

Barb Scranton married Richard Horton on June 19, 1942 at her mother’s home in Holly. The couple, who have lived in the same home in Goodrich for 63 years, celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary by going out to dinner with two of their children and their spouses.
The Hortons have four children? Rick (Elaine) of Goodrich, Carol (Norman) Najar of Phoenix, Suzanne (Stan) Koon of Davison, and Babette (Bob) Fraley of Phoenix. They have six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Army Pvt. Jessica A. Sanday has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, Sanday studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

Jennifer K. Mitzner and Jonathan T. Nedry were married on May 30 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Wixom. The ceremony was officiated by Reverend Rob Nelson.

Eric Barch was named the recipient of a $22,500 scholarship to Kettering University during the FIRST national championships held in Atlanta, Ga. on April 17.
Scholarship recipients must demonstrate leadership on a FIRST team. FIRST is a robotics sponsor. Barch will graduate from Brandon High School later this month and plans to major in computer engineering at Kettering. He is the son of Ken and Susan Barch of Brandon Township.

Pfc. Moquin assigned to military police duty
Private First Class Brendon Moquin of Ortonville, a Michigan Army National Guard member for one year, is assigned as a military police officer with the 1775th Military Police Company in Pontiac.
The 2005 Brandon High School graduate attended basic training in 2008 at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. During his military career, Moquin has received numerous awards, including the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.
In civilian life, Moquin is pursuing his associate’s degree in criminal justice at Oakland Community College. Moquin is the son of Rob Moquin of Davison and Jeanette Weaver of Brandon Township.
Kwiatkowski graduates magna cum laude
Claire Kwiatkowski graduated magna cum laude on Dec. 13 from Oakland University with a bachelor of science degree in general business management. She had a minor in dance.
Kwiatkowski is presently employed as an assistant manager for Hollister and is the daughter of Mark and Veronica Kwiatkowski of Ortonville.

Gerald and Alice Marsh
Gerald and Alice Marsh will celebrate their 60th anniversary on Aug. 13.
The couple met in downtown Ortonville in 1947 and were married at an Oxford parsonage on Aug. 13, 1948. The couple had nine children, 16 grandchildren and 16 grea- grandchildren. Alice was a homemaker and enjoyed canning and baking. In addition she crochets, embroiders, and provides blue star flags for service men and women.
Gerald worked 30 years for Fisher Body in Pontiac and served 33 years as a firefighter for the Ortonville Fire Department. The couple owns a cabin in Harrison, Mich. and are members of the Moose Lodge there. In 1998 the pair renewed their wedding vows at Earharts Garden in Hadley.
The secret to their long-lasting relationship, say Gerald and Alice, is being considerate, thinking of each other and not just yourself’so far it’s worked. They are always there for each other, look out for and take care of each other.

Joel Camfield recently completed Airborne School 1/507th B Co 3rd Plt at Ft. Benning, Ga.
Camfield, a 2006 graduate of Brandon High School, is currently in the Army ROTC and helicopter flight training programs at the University of North Dakota.

A Mass was celebrated for Sister Mary Martin DiGiambattista, O.P. on July 22, marking her 90th birthday and the 70th anniversary of taking her religious vows of obedience, poverty and chastity in the Dominican Order.
Bishop Francis Reiss, auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Detroit, was main celebrant at Our Lady of Mt. Thabor Monastery in Groveland Township. Fathers Carlos Reyesmedia, James O’Hagan, Loren O’Dea, Jerome Frawley and Gonzolo Vianna, MC were concelebrants.
The Mass was attended by many friends and Bishop Reiss blessed the newly established cemetery, as well as the Statue of the Sacred Heart, sculpted by Suzanne M. Young.
Sister Mary Martin and Sister Anne Mary Kearney came into the archdiocese in 1969 to establish the Mt. Thabor Monastery and settled in Groveland Township in 1973.
Morris
Daniel and Betty Morris recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary.
The couple were married July 25, 1945 in Cheboygan. Prior to their marriage, Daniel joined the Navy in February 1942 and was a captain in the gunnery squad on a merchant marine ship where he was instrumental in the dispensement of the German wolfpack in World War II. Betty (Davis) was secretary of her high school class in Hale, Mich.
They have five children and four grandchildren. They are currently visiting their son, Dave, who lives in Ortonville.
Marsh
Ortonville resident Gerald Marsh was recognized by the United Auto Workers recently for 30 years of retirement after 30 years of employment at General Motors.
Marsh was first hired by GM in 1948 cleaning cars in the body shop. Slowly but surely, Marsh worked his way up the ladder. After 20 years of working with his hands, the Ortonville resident worked with his mind for the last 10 years of his career. Marsh was the Fisher Body Plant’s Fireman.
He kept the plant safe and most of it still stands today.
In 1978, Marsh retired from GM. He now keeps busy in his garden or at his hunting cabin in Harrison, Mich.
He and his wife, Alice, had eight children who have now provided them with 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Frank is a retired pharmacist. Jackie taught in the Goodrich School District for 31 years, retiring in 1994.

Amy Gibson
Amy Gibson of Ortonville has been named the February recipient of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland.
Gibson, a service coordinator for urology, gynecology and general surgery service lines, was recognized for her clinical skills, compassionate care, exemplary service and extraordinary commitment to patient-centered care.
The DAISY Award is given monthly to outstanding nurses in more than 100 hospitals across the United States.
Gibson has been employed at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland since 1991.
Albion College student Colby Albarkat has been awarded a Alpha Phi Omega John Mack Scholarship.
Albarkat, a Clarkston High School graduate, was selected in large part for her leadership of STRIVE, an Albion College student group that cultivates long-term mentoring relationships with middle-school students. She has also served several leadership positions with APO. She is a junior at Albion College, majoring in English with minors in philosophy and journalism.

Adam Wadecki of Clarkston received his Master’s Degree in Industrial and Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D.

Sheena Marie Moran graduated Magna Cum Laude from Michigan State University with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
She is a graduate of the School of Packaging, which is affiliated with the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
Moran, a 2002 graduate of Clarkston High School, completed her five-year program in 3.5 years.
She was also recipient of the ‘Outstanding Scholarship? award, studied abroad in Ireland and has been the treasurer and vice-president of the Packaging club at MSU.
She is currently employed with Proctor & Gamble in Cincinnatti, Ohio.
Joseph Curtiss Moran, 2006 CHS graduate, is now enrolled at MSU in the Business School and is studying Finance Management.
He completed his first semester, and received a 4.0 GPA and Deans list honors for his studies.
Ashley Moran, a 2000 graduate of CHS, graduated from MSU in 2004.

Alexandra Snook of Clarkston earned a $1,500 scholarship in the AFD Foundation/Pepsi Scholarship Challenge Drive.
Snook is a sophomore attending Albion College. She is the daughter of Ken and Barb Snook of Clarkston.

Hope College students Brianna O’Donnell, Kimberly Conger, Kimberly Cook, Matthew Green, Elizabeth Knappe, and MichellePascoe, all of Clarkston, were named to the Dean’s List for the fall semester. They had to earn at least a 3.5 GPA.

Gillian S. Nordquist of Clarkston has been named to the dean’s list at Bucknell University for outstanding academic achievement during the fall semester. She is the daughter of Steven and Martha Nordquist, and a 2005 graduate of Clarkston High School.

The following Albion College students were named to the Dean’s List. To make the list, they must achieve a 3.5 or higher GPA:
? Megan Anderson, a senior majoring in psychology and minoring in cell and molecular biology, with a concentration in neuroscience. Anderson was also named a new Albion College fellow. To attain this, she maintained a 3.7 GPA for three consecutive semesters. She is the daughter of Bill Anderson of Pontiac and DeLynn Anderson of Clarkston, and a graduate of Clarkston High School.
? Kaitlyn Brown is a first-year at Albion College. She is the daughter of Donald Brown and Kay Brown of Clarkston and a graduate of Clarkston High School.
