The Oakland County Sheriff’s Department responded to a loud noise complaint on Miller Road on Nov. 23.
According to an OCSD report, a 45-year-old woman reported her neighbor, a 37-year-old man, was playing loud music in his garage, and that she’d had an ongoing problem with him playing loud music. While speaking with the woman, the responding OCSD deputy noted that he could hear the man’s music in the street.
The deputy asked the man to turn his music down and he asked why and was told of his neighbor’s complaint.
The man became “upset and argumentative,” according to the deputy, and asked why he had to turn it down, saying his wife had “checked with the township and there was no noise ordinance.” The man was told he was disturbing the peace and he continued to argue.
The deputy eventually went and got a copy of the disorderly person ordinance for the man to see. He was then cited for being a disorderly person, and said he would take the matter to court and that he wanted a personal protection order against his neighbor. The OCSD advised him of the process for getting a PPO.
