Money for work on hydrants

A meeting in July between Orion Township and Village of Lake Orion officials ended up as a financial windfall for the village.
The municipalities agreed to a fire hydrant maintenance services agreement. The village will also receive between $12,000 and $14,000 for services rendered but not paid for by the township since 2001.
Orion Township Fire Department Fire Chief Jeff Key told village officials the reason he hadn’t made any payments was because there was no agreement between the village and the township for him to do so.
The village will receive $15 per hydrant annually for maintaining the fire department’s hydrants.
