The following resolution saluting The Clarkston News on 75 years of service was passed by the Springfield Township Board of Trustees:

Whereas, The Clarkston News has steadfastly served the residents and businesses of the Greater Clarkston Area, including Springfield Township, for 75 years; and
Whereas, during this period the publishers of The Clarkston News have consistently demonstrated their commitment to providing meaningful and informative local coverage of events and happenings that are of interest to, and affect the lives of, those living in the Clarkston area: such as human interest stories; local government actions and activities; sports and school events; and development within the business community, as well as a local perspective on far flung events which touch our lives ? from wars to national celebrations; and
Whereas, at a time when mainstream media often seems to be influenced by ‘tabloid journalism,? and by the temptation to resort to easy, but superficial stories, The Clarkston News has, throughout the years, striven to maintain high journalism standards and a commitment to providing thorough, understandable coverage of sometimes complex local issues; and
Whereas, throughout these past 75 years, The Clarkston News has never lost its community focus.
Now, Therefore, be it resolved: that the Township Board of the Charter Township of Springfield salutes The Clarkston News on the occasion of its 75th Anniversary and expresses its thanks for the important role The Clarkston News continues to play in informing and servicing our community.
