Since Muffler Man opened for business six years ago, it has evolved into a complete auto service for the community.
‘It will be one-stop shopping, so to speak. With cars lasting longer and having more warranties, full service is the trend customers are demanding, ‘owner Randall Brewer says.
Besides muffler repairs and replacement, Muffler Man also offers brake service, oil changes, struts and shocks, maintenance tune-ups, exhaust and custom pipe bending, catalytic converters, wheel alignment, charging systems, transmission fluid changes, CV axle repair and u-joints, fuel pumps, windshield wiper repairs, headlights, turn signals and bulb replacement and tire repairs.
In addition, Muffler Man is now doing heavy repairs such as engines and head gaskets.
The shop sells tires, and sells and installs Draw-Tite trailer hitches and accessories, does steering and front-end work, electrical repair and cooling system work.
Free brake and front end inspections are also available.
‘We market our products and services to customers with all types of vehicles — foreign and domestic,? Randall says. ‘We strive to offer honest, quality service at a fair price.?
Randall and his wife Judy are familiar faces in the community. The couple has lived in Lake Orion for nearly 21 years and Judy has been a teacher in the Lake Orion School District since 1976.
They are active sponsors of many youth activities, including baseball and softball teams.
Randall, who has over 30 years of experience in auto repair, says he came to Muffler Man from a full-service facility. He was partner of North Hill Marathon in Rochester from 1973-1984 and continued to work there as a technician until 1997.
His employees also have many years of experience in auto service.
Randall says when he decided to open his own business, he knew Lake Orion was the place he wanted to be. The Brewers donate gift certificates for events like the Lake Orion High School Senior All-Night Party. They’ve also made donations to the men’s softball league.
The Brewers attend Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, which is involved in helping the Baldwin Center where Randall has volunteered his time.
Muffler Man has a website at www.mufflermanservice.com, where customers can retrieve coupons for specials and get information about services and products.
‘The most challenging part of my business is satisfying our customers? needs and wants,? Randall says. ‘Also staying competitive in the community and keeping up with technology as it changes from year to year are added challenges.?
