Rotary Park bridge in Springfield Township is due for demolition and replacement, May 7.
The pedestrian bridge in downtown Davisburg is part of Oakland County Parks, which is spearheading the effort.
Funding includes more than $500 in donations, $1,040 from Lopez Engineering for project plans, $4,200 from Oakland Parks in fees, materials, and labor, and $300 from Springfield Township in waived permit fees.
The Springfield Township Board approved an additional $1,000 donation at its April 14 meeting.
“I wholeheartedly support Springfield Township donating to this project,” said Clerk Laura Moreau. “This will be a sturdy, well-engineered, well-built bridge.”
The replacement is for safety reasons, Moreau said.
“It truly needs to be replaced ? it’s unstable,” she said.
Total cost of the project is about $13,474. For more information and to register to help, contact Rachel Boyd at boydr@oakgov.com or 248-975-9717.
