Meeting twice a month at the Carriage House in Clintonwood Park, each starting with the Pledge of Allegiance and God Bless America, Clarkston Area Lions noticed the flag wasn’t in good shape.
So at their March 14 meeting, the Lions donated a new flag to the Independence Township Parks, Recreation and Seniors for the Carriage House.
“The United States flag is not just a piece of fabric,” said Lion Chris Savage. “It represents our country and the principles that Americans hold dear like life, liberty and equality.”
The flag reminds us of our past and gives us hope for the future, Savage said.
“As such it deserves our honor and respect,” she said. “So the next time you’re in the Carriage House look for the new flag and think about what it represents.”
The Clarkston Area Lions Club is a local service organization with international ties primarily working with the vision and hearing impaired.
