Signage prohibiting motorcycles from traveling and parking on the sidewalk in the southwest parking quadrant was unanimously approved by the Oxford Village Council last week.
The action was prompted by complaints from Third Wave Seafood and Chop House that motorcycles were “riding up on the sidewalk and traveling in front of their (rear) entrance way,” according to a Sept. 29 memo from Police Chief Mike Neymanowski.
“Subsequently, the motorcycles then park on the sidewalk in the rear of Rob’s Bar,” the memo stated. “My officers have responded to the complaints and have warned and issued citations to the motorcycle drivers.”
“To help eliminate this safety hazard,” the chief recommended signs be “clearly placed, prohibiting motorcycles from traveling and parking on the sidewalk.”
One sign will be placed by the rear of Parkside Dairy “where the motorcycles are entering on to the sidewalk.”
The other will be posted in the rear of Rob’s Bar where the motorcycles park.”
