No on tax proposal

A cost-saving proposal for the Oxford Township Treasurer’s Dept. to begin collecting the village’s taxes as part of the township’s summer tax collection was unanimously rejected by council last week based on charter issues.
It was determined that in order to make it happen, the village would need to amend its charter to change its tax collection dates to match the township’s dates.
Charter amendments require a vote of village residents.
‘It would take years for this cost-savings to offset the cost of amending the charter,? said President Chris Bishop.
