Oakland man accidentally shot during CCW class in Addison

An investigation is ongoing after a firearm accidentally discharged in Addison Township May 5.
Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call for a gun shot wound to the face in the 77000 block of Dequindre Rd.
A 74-year-old Washingon Township man, who was teaching a concealed weapons class, was showing students the difference between single action and double action handguns.
When a student asked for a demonstration, he displayed a semi-automatic hand gun with plastic training bullets. He pulled out a .38 caliber Smith & Wesson revolver, which he thought was also loaded with plastic bullets.
When he pulled it from his holster, the revolver discharged a round.
The bullet bounced off of the instructional table and struck a 52-year-old Oakland Township man in the left cheek.
Another student gave him medical aid, then 9-1-1 was called.
Addison Township Fire Department reported he had non-life threatening injuries.
The victim was taken to Troy Beaumont Hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
According to Oakland County Sheriff’s Sgt. Robert Brudvig, the incident is still under investigation for possible charges.
