A stunt went wrong Saturday night and resulted in a crash that abruptly ended the life of an Oxford High School graduate who had just received his diploma in May.
Tyler James Flook, 18, of Oxford, died at 3:20 p.m. on Sunday, June 29 from injuries he sustained when he lost control of his dirt bike while doing a ‘wheelie? and crashed into a parked vehicle the night before, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.
Flook was riding a 1997 Suzuki RM250 dirt bike in the driveway of a home located in the 2300 block of Granger Rd. when the accident occurred at about 9:30 p.m.
Witnesses told sheriff’s investigators that when Flook brought the bike’s front wheel up, he accelerated and struck the rear of a pickup truck parked in the driveway.
Flook was wearing a helmet, however, it came off following the crash, but before he struck the concrete, according to the sheriff’s office.
‘He had a helmet on, but it wasn’t secured. He had it on improperly,? explained Deputy Eric Rymarz, who is assigned to the sheriff’s Crash Reconstruction Unit.
Flook was transported to McLaren Oakland with severe head trauma and passed away there the next day. Neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
Flook is survived by his parents Ann Maree and George; siblings Felecia, Rylee, Logan and George, Jr.; grandparents Daniel (Mary) Mirovsky and Maureen Mirovsky; uncles and aunts Marc and Renee Mirovsky and Johnny and Lori Croasdell; and nephews Isaiah and Josiah.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 7 at the Modetz Funeral Home (100 E. Silverbell Rd.) in Orion Township. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 6 from 2-9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.
