Due to the current eight snow days, Oxford High School’s May-term has been cancelled.
‘Those missing days have made it very difficult to get all the standards and benchmarks, certainly at the level they need to be for the current semester, so the decision was made that in light of the weather that we would continue to the end of the school year versus going to an 11 day May Term,? said Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction Dr. James Schwarz. ‘It just didn’t make sense to us at this point, especially if we should incur any further days.?
An e-mail was sent to OHS parents on March 18 letting them know of the change.
However, the change does not affect seniors who will still have their last day on May 8 and study abroad opportunities to both Mexico and Europe that were originally scheduled for May-Term remain unaffected.
To date the current last day for underclassmen (grades 9-11) will be June 10.
