O’Malley’s on the road

Brandon Twp.-Dennis and Michelle O’Malley, who have catered events together for 24 years, are ready to accomodate any request.
They’ve even got some stories to prove it.
Dennis O’Malley recalls a bride who called on a Wednesday for catering information in regards to her wedding, which was to be three days later, for 250 people. The O’Malleys came through. They also were the caterers for a gas station wedding. The bride and groom wed at 8 a.m. in front of a Slurpee machine and the O’Malleys provided breakfast burritos for 400 people.
The owners of O’Malley’s Galley Restaurant & Catering have catered events that range from the informal with paper plates to very formal, with champagne flutes and china dishes. Besides weddings, they have catered graduation parties, corporate events, showers, church functions and fundraisers. They can cater parties of 1,000 people and have catered to 1,600 people in one day.
‘Our catering menu is unlimited,? says O’Malley. ‘The difference between us and a chain is we make all food in-house and prepare it fresh for your event.?
The O’Malleys have a catering menu with listed items including barbecued chicken, Italian baked chicken, vegetable pasta salad, fruit salad, potato salad, vegetable lasagna Alfredo, a variety of potatoes and vegetables, home baked breads, and appetizers. But they will make any food requested. Michelle O’Malley makes all her own desserts, which includes cheesecake, tiramisu, specialty cakes and an assortment of pies. Dennis O’Malley, who began catering when he was 15 through a vocational school in South Carolina, has extensive experience in barbecuing and seafood.
The O’Malleys have the equipment to oak or hickory smoke salmon, chicken, beef and ribs on site and they also do hog and chicken roasts. Hogs start at 160 pounds (to feed 100 people) and go up to 260 pounds.
‘We’ve cooked about 25 hogs per year for the last eight years,? said O’Malley, who notes it takes about six to eight hours to cook a hog.
The O’Malleys are licensed and insured and will cater for any day of the week, any time.
‘The standard is for Michelle and I to do the catering,? O’Malley says. ‘We really enjoy doing it.?
