There will be 12 Lake Orion athletes competing for state honors this weekend at the state championship meet at Rockford High School, near Grand Rapids.
Last week during the regional meet held at Bloomfield Lahser High School, Lake Orion qualified 12 total boys and girls to the state meet.
The Dragon boys? team finished fourth at the regionals behind champion Waterford Mott and the girls also finished fourth behind champion Clarkston.
There were 14 schools competing at the regional site.
‘Leading the way for the LOHS girls were Sarah Simpson taking first and Colleen Campbell taking second in the pole vault. ‘Also qualifying were Natalie Husted in the 300 meter hurdles and Margaret Hastings, Madeline Ray, Bellina Gaskey and Rachel Zeile in the 4 x 800 meter relay.
‘The boys were lead by Sheldon Drake taking first in the 200 meter run and Andrew Lorant qualifying in the 1600 and 3200 meter run.
Lorant was also part of the qualify 4 x 800 meter relay with Jacob Arenz, Matthew Arenz and Michael Jarvis.
