One last run at state titles

The Wolves took on teams across the county last Friday in the 54th Annual Oakland Track and Field Championships.
The boys team finished in fifth place, scoring 35 points. Lake Orion won the meet with 63 points at Holly High School.
They took the top six places in five events. The 3,200-meter relay team, second at 8:12; Ian Eriksen, second in 200-meter dash, 22:36; Blake Sutherland, third in 400-meter dash; Austin Draving, third, 9:38.03, and Nick Moore, fifth, 9:40.67, in 3,200-meter run; and Caine Watlington, sixth, long jump 20′ and 8 1/2 inches.
The girls team finished in 10th place with 22.5 points as Rochester Adams secured first at the meet with 80 points.
They finished in the top six in six events. Erin Billette finished in third place in the 800-meter run, 2:14.57; 3,200-meter relay team, fourth, 9:49.37; 400-meter team, fourth, 50.85; Maisey Peterson tied fifth in pole vault at nine feet; 1,600-meter relay team, sixth, 4:08.24; and the 800-meter relay team, sixth, 1:47.
The Wolves head to the state finals at East Kentwood this Saturday after qualifying at regionals.
The boys send two relay teams to compete in the 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter events. Draving and Moore qualified for the 3,200-meter run; Eriksen in the 200-meter dash and Watlington in the long jump.
The girls team sends four relay teams for the 400-meter, 800-meter, 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter events.
Nicole Hanson competes in the 3,200-meter run; Billette in the 1,600-meter run; Taylor Mullins 300-meter low hurdles; and Megan Nicholson in the high jump.
