One more hurdle to climb for Goodrich girls cross country

Goodrich’s girls cross country team will have a chance to prove they are the best in the state in Division 3.
The Martians earned a decisive victory at the Division 3 regional meet Saturday, Oct. 25 at Willow Metro Park in New Boston, finishing with a total of 27 points.
Williamston was a distant second, finishing with 67 points, while Perry earned third (104). All three teams moved on to the state cross country finals Nov. 1 at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn.
The Martians earned the top three individual spots in the meet, as freshman Kayla O’Mara took first place (18:46), freshman Kaitlin O’Mara second (18:56) and junior Janee Jones third (18:56.5). Rounding out the Goodrich scoring were sophomore Samantha Minkler (10th, 20:34.6) and freshman Kelsey Meyers (11th, 20:36.2).
Even though she didn’t figure in the Martians? scoring, sophomore Natalie Cook (15th, 20:57.9) earned an individual spot at the state meet by placing among the top 15 finishers. The Martians? seventh runner, sophomore Molly Downer, placed 26th (21:49.5).
Goodrich’s boys team wrapped up its season with a fifth place finish at the regional meet, scoring 174 points. Williamston won the meet with 37 points, while second-place Corunna (47) and third-place Lake Fenton (97) also qualified for the state meet.
