Oratorical contest for Clarkston students

Clarkston Area Optimists’ 2013 Oratorical Contest will be on Tuesday, March 19.
Topic is ‘Why My Voice Is Important.” The contest is open to students in grades 8-12 under age 19 as of Dec. 31, 2013, who have not graduated from high school.
The contest is open to all students in the Clarkston school district, including Clarkston junior and senior high schools, Cedar Crest Academy, and Everest Academy.
Students will be judged on poise, content of their speech, delivery and presentation, and overall effectiveness.
Prizes are $200 for first place in both male and female categories, $100 for second place in both categories, and $50 for third place in both categories. First place winners will go on to a district level competition.
