Orion Art Center celebrates Earth Day with RE-Create Exhibit

The Orion Art Center recently held its opening reception for the Re-Create Recycled Art Show on April 22 in observance of Earth Day.
The center hosts several shows throughout the year, but this is the first show with a recycled theme.
RE-Create, which will be on exhibit through June 18, has a variety of pieces that are sure to delight young and old.
Artists from Ypsilanti to Saginaw and everywhere in between are represented in three categories: childrens, household and industrial.
The show was sponsored by Waste Management Eagle Valley Recycle and Disposal Facility and the Look for the Good Campaign, a local group that urges everyone to look for the positive in their everyday lives.
Winners in the childrens category were William Monprode of Oxford and Dessa Hodges of Clarkston.
Household entry Winners were DJ Ostrand, of Oxford, in first place; Darren Dundee, of Clinton Township, in second; and Katie Serawicz, of Pontiac, in third. Roger Garrell, of Lake Orion, received an honorable mention.
Industrial entry winners included first place winner Ryan Haas, of Oakland, Larry Zdeb, of Troy, in second and Cre Fuller of Ypsilanti, in third. Patty Pfaendtner, of Macomb, received an honorable mention.
Special hours for the Re-Create show are Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
