Orion youth honored for volunteer work and heroic deeds

Orion Area Youth Assistance (OAYA) hosted over 150 guests at its 16th annual Youth Recognition Awards Ceremony April 30 at LOHS.
The Youth Recognition Committee honored 78 youth for their special, above-and-beyond service to the community. The event identified each youth for volunteer work and heroic deeds.
Honorable Eugene Authur Moore, Oakland County Circuit Court – family division, was the key note speaker. His passion for the program was evident in the support and encouragement he gave to the honorees. Judge Moore’s father was cofounder of Oakland County Youth Assistance in 1953.
The honored students received a number of awards, including a recognition certificate from OAYA, a proclamation from Commissioner Mike Gingell, a special tribute from State Senator Mike Bishop, a letter of recognition from Honorable Julie Nicholson, a signed certificate from County Sheriff Mike Bouchard and a special tribute from State Representative James Marleau.
The event was sponsored by Milosch’s Palace Chrysler Jeep Dodge and Oxford Bank.
