Icers split the week with games in the OAA Red.
Clarkston Varsity Hockey team began the week on Friday with a 5-0 loss against Rochester United at Onyx Ice Arena.
The Wolves found themselves in penalty trouble eight times in which three shorthanded goals occurred.
Senior goalie Nick Surovec blocked 25 of the 30 shots Rochester United put on him as the Wolves took 16 shots on the net during the night.
The boys bounced back the next night for an overtime win over North Farmington.
They jumped to an early lead on a power play goal by senior co-captain Garrett Polish from fellow co-captains Eric Matynowski and Chase Weidemann.
North Farmington responded late in the second period during a power play, tying the score at 1-1.
With just under five minutes remaining in regulation and just as Carter Rea’s second penalty of the night expired, North Farmington’s, Adam Fine, snuck the puck past Wolves netminder senior goalie Jack Viazanko, in a goal mouth scramble, to give his squad the lead.
Farmington’s lead was short lived, due to Weidemann, netting a smooth centering pass from Jacob Laporte with just 1:26 left in regulation time, sending the contest to overtime.
Clarkston put on a run during overtime and took seven shots on North Farmington’s goalie, A.J. Miller, in less than two minutes.
Matynowski shot the tie breaking goal on a drive to snatch the victory with 6:03 remaining in the extra period.
Bryan Kryiger, head coach, praised the boys after the game for their defensive work and Viazanko’s save of 16 shots in the net.
