Oxford Cross Country’s on the run

The Oxford High School Cross Country has been busy lately, running in a county championship and at a dual meet.
At the Oct. 4 Oakland County Championship in Milford’s Kensington Park, the boys? cross country team finished 22nd out of 39 teams while the girls? team finished 23rd out of 39.
‘I felt we had a really good effort,? said Cross Country Head Coach Ray Sutherland. ‘We ran as well as we could have.?
Results from the county championship are as follows for the boy runners:
Chase Tucker finished 93rd with a time of 18:23; Dylan Smith finished 119th at 18:44; Erik Joergen finished 134th at 18:57.
For the girl runners:
Shannon Seeley finished 74th at in 21:32; Taylor Dewey finished 90th at 21:57; Megan Seeley finished 140th at 23:11; Jillian Walker finished 143rd at 23:20; Olivia Hernandez finished 159th at 23:55.
On Sept. 30, the cross country team competed at a 5K dual meet–the East-West Tourney–at Oxford. At that tourney, the boys beat Lapeer West 21-40 and lost a tiebreaker to Lapeer East 28-28. The girls defeated West 18-35 but lost to East 31-24.
At the tourney, Chase Tucker finished first place out of all the schools running while Jillian Walker set a personal record.
For the boy runners:
Tucker’s first-place finish came with a time of 18:04; Dylan Smith finished fourth at 18:11; Joergen finished fifth at 18:21; Shane Kerbelis finished 12th at 19:09; Christian Brandel finished 15th at 19:33; Alec Smith finished 16th at 19:45.
For the girl runners:
Shannon Seeley finished fourth at 21:23; Dewey finished 8th at 21:49; Walker’s personal-best record of 22:43 earned her 12th place; Megan Seeley finished 16th at 23:08; Olivia Hernandez finished 18th at 23:16.
‘It was a pretty good run, and we ran hard,? Sutherland said. ‘It was tough, losing a tiebreaker, but other than that I thought we ran really well and had pretty good (run) times.?
