A light-skinned black male in his late-20s or early-30s is being sought by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Dept. for the armed robbery Friday night of the Oxford Township CVS Pharmacy, located at 1430 S. Lapeer Road in the Oxford Mills strip-mall.
Armed with what was reported to be a small caliber, semi-automatic handgun, the suspect allegedly stole approximately $4,000 in cash shortly after the store closed, according to sheriff’s investigators.
According to the sheriff’s report, three CVS employees, one man and two women, were walking to their vehicles in the parking lot at approximately 10:05 p.m., when a black male came running up to them and told them to walk back into the closed store.
The store’s 51-year-old manager told deputies he “hestitated,” believing the man wanted a “prescription or something.”
The suspect then produced a handgun, walked them back into the store, made them turn off the security alarm and ordered them into the office, the report stated.
After the two female employees were forced to lay down on the office floor, the suspect then ordered the manager to fill a shopping bag with all the money from the cash register trays stored in the safe, the report stated.
According to the report, the suspect threatened to shoot the manager if he didn’t hurry up.
Once the bag was filled, the suspect forced the manager to lie down on the floor, pulled the telephone cord out of the wall and left the three employees on the floor with the office door closed, the report said.
The employees stated they never saw how the suspect left because they were afraid to get up.
Sheriff’s investigators said it appears the suspect is also wanted by other police departments for the armed robberies of CVS stores in the City of St. Clair and Marysville in St. Clair County, Richmond in Macomb County and Brownstown in Wayne County.
The suspect is described as a light-skinned black male in his late-20s or early-30s, approximately 5-foot, 8 or 9 inches in height with an athletic build, clean shaven, wearing no glasses and possessing no visible markings or scars.
Witnesses at the Oxford CVS robbery described him as wearing a dark turtleneck shirt with long sleeves, dark pants, dark knit cap and dark knit gloves. The suspect was not wearing a coat, witnesses said.
If anyone has any information about the suspect or witnessed anything Friday night, they should immediately call the Oxford sheriff’s substation at (248) 969-3077 or sheriff’s dispatch in Pontiac at (248) 858-4950.
