A 24-year-old Oxford man was killed while crossing M-24 in front of the Burning Oak restaurant (595 N. Lapeer Rd.) at approximately 12:01 a.m. Thursday, June 13.
The victim was struck by a northbound 2004 Kia Sorento driven by a 28-year-old Ortonville man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The area was dark and it was raining, so the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department believes that weather and visibility were factors in this crash.
Alcohol and/or drug use by the driver does not appear to be a factor.
The crash remains under investigation.
