Oxford/Orion FISH plans to open its new clothes closet on Feb. 7.
The closet will offer used clothing at minimal prices to the general public. All proceeds will go towards FISH’s general fund, which helps those in need in our local community.
The charity is currently accepting in-season (spring—think long sleeves and pants in brighter colors) clothing donations, by appointment.
If you’d like to donate, please call 693-0638. Appointments are necessary because volunteer hours vary greatly, and items dropped off outdoors may be ruined by weather conditions.
Other donations needed at this time include store shopping bags and store hangers (wire neck and plastic shoulders).
Shop hours, to begin with, are: Tues., 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m.; Wed./Thurs., 1-4 p.m.; and Fri., 12-3 p.m..
The store will also be open the third Sat. of each month, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
These hours may expand depending on how many volunteers come forward to help with the clothes closet.
The clothes closet has been in the planning stages for several months.
It will provide a local source for inexpensive, gently used clothing.
The clothes closet is located at 487 First Street, Oxford, in the former Thomas Hall.
