Low bidder for the Atwater paving project this year was Peake Contracting of Utica. The company bid $107, 591. Five companies responded to the Village of Lake Orion’s request for bids.
Village engineers, Hubbell, Roth & Clark, had estimated the project would cost $120,418.
Council members on April 25 decided to add additional curb removal and replacement in certain spots to the contract for an extra $5,000.
Peake will also be doing extra work while it’s in the village. Repair work will be done on North Shore and will be paid for from the North Shore Bridge fund.
The company will also work on a section of road on Bellevue that was torn up to repair a water main last winter. Monies for the project will come out of the Road Construction fund.
Authorizing Peake to do this work will expedite the repair work. This will also allow the village to have the work done without the need to bid out these small jobs and to have another company charge for bringing its equipment to do the job, according to LO Village Manager JoAnn Van Tassel.
