Pedaling for pizza in Oxford

Main Street Bicycles in Oxford was filled with the smells of bike oil and greasy pizza as 30 kids got in one last bike ride on Friday, Oct. 29 before old man winter set in.
The idea, Pedal for Pizza, was started by Oxford Middle School teacher Neil Peruski.
‘I was kind of working with Main Street Bikes on this and it’s kind of a way to get kids out exercising and enjoying their bikes before it gets to dark in the wintertime,? Peruski said.
This was the second week that sixth graders gathered together to go for an hour long bike ride along the Polly Ann Trail. The first week 35 kids and some parents traveled all the way out to Hosner Rd. before turning around.
‘He knew that we were looking to do some rides, so he and Karey Collins suggested they go ahead and do this and so far it has turned out great,? said Don Cumming, the store manager. ‘They all seem to have a really good time and the pizza, I think, is their favorite part.?
His goal is to begin a cycling club that is either associated with the Middle School or with Main Street Bicycles.
‘Our goal is to start it up in the springtime when it gets warmer and we have daylight again,? Cumming said. ? Andrew Moser
