Pie in the face fundraiser, sweet success for NHS

Brandon Twp.-For $2, Kayla LaLone, Brandon High School senior and National Honor Society officer, received a piece of the action.
‘I loved the thrill of pieing my good friends in the face and knowing it was for a good cause,? said LaLone.
LaLone and others took aim at about 20 students and teachers at the Dec. 8 Blackhawk varsity boys basketball game during the first annual Brandon High School National Honor Society (NHS), Pie in the Face fundraiser. For $2 one could purchase a pie to throw at the target of their choice.
Tina Baldwin, NHS advisor, was pleased with the fundraiser, which raised a bit more than $100.
‘I was thrilled with the response we got,? said Baldwin. ‘They are a really good group of kids, all very ambitious.?
National Honor Society is a service organization that was created to help the community and make an overall difference in others? lives. Brandon High School members are students with a 3.5 GPA or above, who have passed an acceptance process. Members must also show good character and leadership qualities.
‘This year we have a great group of kids,? said Baldwin. ‘They all want change and can’t wait to make change.?
Other upcoming events Brandon High School NHS has include: ‘Best Seat in the House? at all home varsity basketball games and a telethon the students will be helping with, to keep local people warm.
