The Gingellville Steering Committee is hosting an organizational meeting of the Friends of Gingellville for residents, merchants and other interested parties on Nov. 29, 7 p.m. It takes place at the Gingellville Community Church, 3920 Baldwin Road.
The goal of the group is to preserve, promote and improve Gingellville, a hamlet located in the southwest corner of Orion Township..
Some of the projects and activities proposed for the group are: fundraising for a Michigan Historic Marker, assisting the township with creating a Gingellville Historic District and ordinance, sponsoring an annual Founders Day Fair, serving as community liaison on the Baldwin Road Widening Project, assisting developers to attract businesses, helping businesses to form a merchants association, establish a Gingellville museum, and develop funding methods for civic improvements.
‘The community needs to be empowered to take on the challenges of the future,? said Susan Dorris, of the Gingellville Steering Committee. ‘We have a great hometown, and lots of people who want to help. With organization, we can mobilize this community.?
