ADDISON TWP. ? A 17-year-old Shelby Township girl got the shock of her life ? literally ? when she was tasered following an alleged altercation between her and an Oakland County Sheriff’s deputy June 30.
The girl, who authorities said admitted to consuming 16 alcoholic beverages, was one of several people partying around a bon fire at the Addison Oaks County Park.
A Preliminary Breath Test was administered and it revealed the girl had a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .217 percent.
To put that in perspective, that’s nearly three times the legal BAC limit for motorists 21 years and older in Michigan. For motorists under 21, the legal limit is .02 percent
At approximately 10:40 p.m., deputies responded to a noise complaint at the park’s campgrounds. While questioning people at the party, the girl wandered off to another camp site.
Deputies found her there and determined she was intoxicated. She attempted to sit on a picnic table and fell to the ground, according to authorities.
A deputy was escorting her to a patrol car when she allegedly took off running. The deputy caught her and they fell to the ground.
The girl allegedly resisted the deputy’s attempts to subdue her. As a result, she was tasered, handcuffed and arrested.
She sustained cuts from the fall and was transported to Crittenton Hospital in Rochester. Her parents were called to the hospital and she was lodged in the Oakland County Jail pending arraignment.
