State Representative John Stakoe and County Commissioner Tom Middleton held an informal get-together last Friday at Pete’s Coney Island as an opportunity for members of the community to come share ideas and concerns.
‘It’s an inforamal setting to make people feel comfortable and hopefully give them some incentive to stop in and talk to us about things,? John Stakoe said.
This was the second meeting at Pete’s, but there are plans to have them the last Friday of every month from 8a.m.- 10a.m.
‘I think one of the most important jobs of any elected official is being a viable presence that people can turn to for help,? Stakoe said.
Community member Theresa Kendrick, who came to the meeting to discuss career options for her teenage daughter, took full advantage of the opportunity,
? I called his secretary and she said he would be at Pete’s Coney Island. I was impressed he was right here in town and accessible like that,? Kendrick said.
Those unable to attend can contact Stakoe at his Lansing office toll free at 1-866-334-0010 or by e-mail at johnstakoe@house.mi.gov.
