Crews from the Road Commission for Oakland County were in Independence Township last week repairing potholes along main thoroughfares including Waldon Road and Clarkston roads.
On the November 2015 ballot, lawmakers are proposing a 1 percent sales tax hike. If passed by taxpayers, $1.3 billion will be added to roads budget, $260 million for low income tax relief, $300 million in additional revenue for schools, and about $94 million in revenue for local governments.
Independence Township Supervisor Pat Kittle has proposed spending $300,000-$400,000 out of the surplus to buy material and work with the RCOC to fix an additional amount of potholes.
