Aug. 4 will be the last day of early voting for registered Michigan voters across the state ahead of the Aug. 6 Primary Election. The polls will be closed Aug. 5.
Two local proposals will be on the ballot for area voters.
Groveland Township voters will decided on a fire department millage providing fire, rescue and related services in the township through the Groveland Township Fire Department, authorizing a levy on all taxable real property within Groveland Township for a period of ten (10) years (2024 thru 2033 inclusive) up to 5.000 mills on each dollar ($5.00 per $1,000) of taxable value as finally equalized pursuant to Michigan law. If approved, the first year shall be levied at the current rate of 3.500 mills, generating an estimated revenue of $1,077,520.96.
In Atlas Township and the Village of Goodrich voters will decide on the replacement of the Recreation Pathways Millage a previously approved .125 mill that expired in 2023, which had been reduced to .1195 mill by required millage rollbacks, with an increased levy of .125 mill ($ .125 on each $ 1,000.00 of taxable valuation) for a period of five (5) years, 2024 to 2028 inclusive, for the construction and maintenance of recreational pathways, which will raise an estimated $ 56,625.00 in the first year the millage is levied.
