Ortonville- The village council approved 6-1 a variance for the Village Pub, 411 Mill St, following a public hearing held by the Zoning Board of Appeals May 12. Harold Batten dissented.
The variance allows the Pub to serve customers in their deck/patio area without limitations by village officials. The deck/patio was added last year.
Pub owners Amy Guirey and Perry Rouse were granted a building permit for the project under the agreement it would be for ‘occasional use only.? However, after they opened the deck nightly during warmer weather, the question became, ‘what is occasional use??
The variance allows them to serve all year without limits, said Village Manager Ed Coy.
