Public can record meetings

Members of the public attending Orion Township meetings can now videotape or make an audio recording of the meeting on their own.
The Orion Township Board of Trustees adopted a policy at their March 17 meeting, which allows members of the public to tape meetings, to prevent disruption of a meeting or interference with the cable commission’s and the township’s recording equipment.
The policy states that a member of the public may tape a meeting without prior approval of the township, as long as set-up and location of equipment be in accordance with the regulations of the township and to minimize the possibility of disrupting the meeting, or interfering with township equipment.
