Racers control the mountain

The Varsity Girls Ski team improved their record after beating Andover and Rochester Adams last week.
They beat Andover 21-55 and Adams 24-51 for their now 6-0 record.
‘The girls are skiing extremely strong and the returners are doing as expected,? said Ryan Parrott. ‘The girls have been the best on the mountain out of all of the ten teams. The highest individual score 24 has been dominate so far.?
The top finishers in the Giant Slalom last week were Kelly Peters in first (:37.65), Analicia Honkanen in second (:38.21), Maddy Dunn in fifth (:39.73) and Elizabeth Wolf in ninth (:40.72).
‘Analicia and Kelly have been taking turns in the top places,? said Parrott.
Honkanen was the top finisher in three races and Peters in two races.
One of the new members to the team is Wolf. The freshman has been placing fourth for the team a majority of the time.
‘It is a strong finish for a freshman,? said Parrott. ‘Lauren Horner has also been skiing extremely well, as well as Liz Abel.?
The boys have won one race in the last few weeks. They lost to Andover, 27-53, and Adams, 53.5-26, last week.
‘The boys are doing really well,? said Parrott. ‘We have six new racers out of the seven on the team. Considering it’s a new team, they are doing extremely well and improving.?
The only returner is Nick Kellogg.
The top finisher in the Giant Slalom were Grant Huber in 11th (:39.35), Kellogg in 15th (:39.68), and Brent Venitallie in 17th (:39.71).
‘Huber and Kellogg have been leading the team,? said Parrott.
This week the teams race against Lahser and Waterford United. The Slalom was on Tuesday and the Giant Slalom is Wednesday. They will race Lake Orion next week.
