POH Regional Medical Center teamed up with Oakland County Urologists and the Great Lakes Cancer Institute to provide free prostate screenings, 5-8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 23, at Great Lakes Cancer Institute, 5680 Bow Pointe Drive.
Each screening includes a Prostate Specific Antigen blood test and digital prostate exam.
Last year, over 200 men in Oakland County took advantage of free prostate exams offered at POHRMC locations. Prostate screenings at POHRMC include the collaborative efforts of Oakland County Urologists, Great Lakes Cancer Institute-Clarkston, Oakland Community College student nurses, the POH Riley Foundation and POHRMC cancer services, community education, lab technicians and medical students.
Free prostate exams have been offered at POHRMC for more than 15 years.
American Cancer Society recommends men should receive an annual prostate exam beginning at age 50, or at age 40 if you are considered to be high risk. Risk factors include: age, race and family history/genetics.
All participants should pre-register by calling 248-338-5389.
