To the editor:
I really can’t believe someone is attempting to recall the village council again (‘Goodrich council faces recall again,? The Citizen, page 1, Oct. 6).
I have attended some of the meetings and this group of people who continue to be against the village don’t understand how the budget works. The easiest way to explain this is it is like you and I having a savings account. That’s how they plan for the projects they are doing. Some of the money they spend is reimbursed after the project is completed. These people just won’t quit. The village residents need to check the motives of this group. Pretty soon there will be no council because no one will want to run. After attending these meetings, I realize what a difficult and complicated job these dedicated people do. This man has way too much time on his hands.
I find it interesting that the one council member he has not included is the one I find least qualified and takes up way too much time having things explained to her over and over. How frustrating this must be for the rest of the council. This group should be happy that the council made good on the platform that they run on. Their taxes were reduced by 30 percent. The problem is they chose to live in expensive homes. Too bad the judge can’t throw this out. If Mr. Tankersley is so worried about money, maybe he should consider the cost of the recall. At approximately $2,000 for each election, if successful, that means since 1998 there will have been $12,000 wasted. How ridiculous is that?
