Goodrich-On Monday night during a special meeting, the village council voted 5-0 to apply for a grant that would fund limestone for village gravel roads.
If the grant is approved Seneca, Kearsley and Huron streets along with Dutch Road and Park Drive would receive about 4 inches of limestone.
Sheri Wilkerson, village administrator said the deadline for the new grant is April 5.
“The project is shovel ready today and could be completed by the end of the year,” said Wilkerson. “The match of $62,400 is currently in the budget.”
On Dec. 26, Gov. Snyder signed a public act establishing the Community Infrastructure Fund, that would provide $3 million per year through fiscal year 2023 for road improvements in cities and villages with a population of 10,000 or fewer.
The maximum grant is $250,000 per municipality and requires a 50 percent match. Projects eligible include reconstruction, replacement, rehabilitation or capital preventative maintenance of city or village streets.
