Ronald W. Hutchings, of Ortonville, MI, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2022 at the age of 81. He was born May 24, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan to the late E. William (Bill) and Eugenia (Jean) C. (née: Hermanowski) Hutchings.
Proud father of Brian Hutchings (wife Mary) and WendySue Barthélemy, grandfather of Isabella Barthélemy.
Ronald is also survived by his loving sister Kathleen (late E. Mark) Gauthier, his nephew Kenneth (wife Kelley) Gauthier, nieces Irene (husband Brad) Bump; Jeanene (husband Dennis) Gabbeart; also survived by many great-nephews; great-nieces.
Ronald honorably served our country through the Army National Guard from 1962-1965 trained as a transport driver, certified to drive many sized military vehicles up to 2.5 Ton. This initiated his life long career in mechanical repair and welding endeavors. He was awarded the level of specialist as a sharpshooter during his service. He was re-enlisted to active duty where he served our country throughout the riots in Detroit, MI during 1967-1968.
He was most passionate about his success as a Sea Captain where he enjoyed providing charters in the waters around Florida and transporting many large vessels from ports around the area. He always found his way home to Michigan and spent most of his vacations at his family home in Ortonville, MI where he spent his final days dreaming of the years that he would sail away once again on the adventures of his younger years.
