Finally the cool temperatures are here, prime fall weather for our cross-country runners to compete in.
This past week, both the boys and girls teams continued their league schedule and competed in the Oakland County Cross Country Championship this past weekend.
The varsity boys had a tough week, losing both of their matches in their tri-meet against Fenton and Linden last Wednesday.
Top finishers for Oxford were senior captain Adam Richmond (17:04/4th), senior captain Todd Davidson (18:14/11th), sophomore Ben Cole (18:17/15th), and sophomore Adam Heskitt (18:54/16th).
The losses dropped the Wildcats record to 3-3 in the league.
In the Oakland County meet, the Oxford competed with 45 other teams from all around Oakland County at Kensington MetroPark on Saturday. The Wildcats finished the day in the top 20 of the meet, coming in 19th overall.
Adam Richmond was out in front for the Wildcats with a 30th place finish in a time of 17:31 earning him another medal for the season.
Close behind was Todd Davidson, running his best race of the season so far with a time of 17:56 and 68th place finish.
The varsity girls were handed two losses last week from the Fenton Tigers and the Linden Eagles. Freshman Taylor Dewey was the first Oxford runner to cross the line at 22:31 for a tenth place finish.
Oxford had two other runners finish in the top twenty, junior Abby Stewart (22:31/13th) and freshman Danielle Kelley (23:25/19th).
At the Oakland County Championships, the Ladycats finished 30th on the day.
It was Dewey out in front for the Ladycats again, this time, running her best race in her career. She crossed the line at 22:28 for a 127th place finish.
Other finishers for Oxford were freshmen Danielle Kelley (22:43/138th), Abby Stewart (23:19/168th), junior Heather Nester (23:54/184th), and setting her personal best this season, sophomore captain Ellen Darnall (24:13/190th).
