Clarkston’s gridiron heroes are collecting food on Friday, Aug. 19, for their 14th Annual Rush for Food.
Freshman, JV and Varsity football players collect non-persishable food in local neighborhoods, 6-7 p.m., and at Lighthouse Emergency Services in Independence Township, 6-7:30 p.m.
Neighborhoods include Almond Lane/Pinevalley, Autumn Shores, Birdland, Boyne Highlands, Bridge Lake Bluffs, BridgeValley, Chestnut Hills, Deerwood, Glenwoods, HarborTowne, Hills of Kingston, Lake Waldon Village, Manors, Middlelake, Oakhurst, Old Pond, Peacefulvalley, Pebblecreek/King, Sashabaw Creek Meadows, Sashabaw Ridge, Sheringham, Softwater Woods/Ingomar farms, Spring Lake and Wyngate.
Leave donations in a bag labeled ‘Rush for Food/Clarkston Football? on the front porch or bring them to Lighthouse, 6330 Sashabaw Road, during business hours.
Last year, they collected 4,600 pounds of food. The event is organized by a parent volunteer committee, with support of the CHS football staff.
